Have you ever really thought about just how much we need light? What it would be like to live without it? I have thought about it a lot and to be honest, I shudder at the thought of darkness. We tend to take light for granted. In fact, we might even forget that it’s there sometimes. It’s something that we don’t pay much attention to because it just … is. We don’t notice it, but the second it’s gone the world becomes a scary place. Anyone else get scared in the dark? Something happens when the light goes out. It scares us. How is there such darkness in the world? These are the thoughts that have been consuming me, yet God reminded me about the one thing that I had forgot. Light. HIS light.
“There is no darkness so dense, so menacing, or so difficult that it cannot be overcome by light. – Vern P Stanfill”
“Only in darkness can you see the stars.”
I was ever so gently reminded, “Britt, don’t be discouraged. You have nothing to fear. I sent my Son to bring LIGHT to the world.” How could I have forgotten? My heart dropped and tears filled my eyes. I had been so consumed with all the darkness filling the world that I had lost sight of the light. In my most vulnerable moments God always shows me what I need to see and this time was no different. He reminded me of his light. He reminded me that HE is our only hope. I want to encourage you to not be afraid or discouraged in times of trouble, but rather look to the light. Look to Jesus for hope. God sent his son down to earth as a babe in a manger and because of him, he is able to shine his light on a world filled with darkness.
“The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.” John 1:4
Just this morning a good friend of ours reminded me that tonight is Christmas Eve. The eve of the night that our SAVIOR was born. As you are with family and friends, speak LIFE, speak TRUTH. Speak of his LIGHT. Don’t let the opportunity pass to share the meaning behind this “holiday.” His name is Jesus Christ. He was born of a virgin, raised by a carpenter, and lived to die. Through his death the veil was torn and we now have direct access to God. Through Jesus Christ who was raised from the grave three days later. It is through his death that we have grace. It is because of him that we have LIGHT.
Share the message. Share the joy.
Share the light.
JESUS NEVER FAILS.
“And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.” John 1:5
